Congratulations Merrill & Pierse!

Merrill and Pierse were honored at the State Capitol Building on Friday, May 3rd for their outstanding writing in the "Poetry of Place" writing contest sponsored by the Nebraska Writing Project and the Nebraska Humanities Council.  Only five honorees' work were chosen out of hundreds in the middle school division.  Merrill and Pierse were asked to read their poems in front of a crowd of teachers and family members of the honorees in the Warner Chamber.  It was a wonderful showcase and we are proud of Merrill and Pierse's impressive accomplishment!  Below are photos from the experience.

The elementary, middle and high school poets honored at the event with professional poets Matt Mason and Twyla Hansen.

Composing Your Bibliography

Click on the link below if you're looking for a helpful tool when creating your bibliography:
http://citationmachine.net/index2.php?reqstyleid=1&newstyle=1&stylebox=1

Remember the following rules when creating a bibliography (also on your handout):

·         Begin the Works Cited on a new page, but number consecutively (i.e., if the last page of your essay is page 3, the Works Cited is page 4)
·         Alphabetize each entry by first letter
·         Use italics for all titles of books, magazines, films, etc.
·         Put quotation marks around the titles of poems, short stories, and articles
·         Indent the 2nd line, the 3rd line, and all subsequent lines of each citation

*An example of how this would look is given below:
