In the novel Wednesday Wars, that I read to you to begin class, the protagonist/main character, Holling gave Mrs. Baker, his English teacher, tips/advice on what to do and not do in the classroom ("don't roll your eyes, don't cross your arms, and use code words when a student does something really well/praise them"). What is an important piece of advice you'd give to teachers that you feel would improve your education as a student(seriously) and why.
For example, please avoid suggestions such as: "Give me an "A" even if I don't turn in my homework." What do you feel is missing right now that you would like to see more of, or teaching practices that you think need to be changed/eliminated altogether. Make sure to support your opinion (please shoot for a 2-3 sentence response at least in order to elaborate on your ideas).

I personality think that teachers should be more strick to certain people because like myself I sit in class and I'm very quiet and I get straight A's and teachers still yell at the whole class. I think the teacher should tell that person who was doing wrong, to come after school and talk about what they did and why they did it. Personailty I'm fed up with teachers yelling at the whole class if only one person or two people are loud and obnoxious and disreupting the class.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so mean and make the kids feel like she hates them, when really she is a down to earth person. She shouldn't take her anger out on them just because her husband might be dead. If she needs to take some days off the school district should let her.
ReplyDeleteOne of my suggestions would be when a student asks you something DONT say BECAUSE I SAID SO!!!!!!!!!!!! WE HATE THAT! The reason is that none of us feel like that is an awnser or reason.

I think that teachers could improve education by taking time to review and explain any questions before class ends or before a test.

I personailty think that teachers are way to sarcastic in class. Make it fun, but dont try to be funny and be all sarcastic, It's not funny. And teachers should be more strict to certain people instead of yelling at the whole class if a group of people were being distrubing. I hate it when teacher yell at the whole class, even if only one person was acting out.
ReplyDeleteI think that you shouldn't make it fun because it gets kind of boring.I dont think anything is missing. I dont think anything needs to be eliminated either!

ReplyDeletei would say do meditation because it makes you relaxed and dont stress on something.
Dont stress on it. Try not to think about the problem and stay calm.

I would say to make her more entertaining. Let us read in groups when we read and make class more interesting. Don't have us read so much.
ReplyDeleteI think the teachers should teach with games more often or websites like quizlet. I think you should also teach outside when it gets nicer.

I would tell the teachers to asign me more homework to do I told them that at confrences but only one of them listened.

i feel that if a student is acting out dont yell at the intire class ecsepcially if it was just the one person acting out i also feel wen it gets warmer let us go out side and do activies last year mrs.Kucera lets us go outside the intire period and draw a picture to represent how we would help keep the earth cleanier on earth day it was really fun everybody injoid it another thing lets do more activits to help study something kim .b
ReplyDeleteps one way to help students on a test would be to use a website such as qwizlit becase it has pictures to help explain what the qwestion is asking it also helps u relaxe intstead of looking at a black and white piece of paper boring and scary in a fobia kind of way that would be my opinion kim.b
ReplyDeleteI think the teachers need to spread out assignments more. Instead of giving us alot of homework one night and none the other, spread it out equally.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be better if we could have snacks in like 2nd or 3rd core. It's a long way to lunch and a lot of people loose attention when they are hungery. i know Mr. Whitman allows snacks but that's my first core so it doesn't help much.

WOW! Many excellent ideas Team 7C students! I particularly liked Madeline's suggestion to explain any questions before class ends or before a test and also Annie's suggestion for spreading homework out equally. Great ideas, girls!
ReplyDeleteI agree with fudge, we should have assignments spread out more, so we don't have all four or five subjects on one night. I also think more students would learn a little better if we did a few more hands on activities. That would be fun!
